Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and physically capable Box Truck Driver/Material Handler to join our team at Peninsula Services. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently transporting materials to our warehouse, unloading and loading trucks, and performing various tasks to support our recycling operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate a 16' to 26' box truck to collect materials from recycling bins and transport them to our warehouse.
  • Unload and load trucks as required, utilizing pallet-jacks, pull carts, and gaylords.
  • Stage finished product in designated loading areas.
  • Deliver and swap clothing recycling bins and carts as needed.
  • Repair and maintain collection boxes as directed.
  • Inspect the company vehicle daily and report any issues.
  • Communicate with dispatch and customers as required.
Requirements
  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • 2 years of experience driving a 16' to 26' box truck for pick-ups or deliveries.
  • Prior experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities is preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Able to work positively and effectively with a variety of personalities and work styles.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to 'go the extra mile' when needed.
  • Emotional and physical health sufficient to meet the demands of the position.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check.
  • Documentation of CPR/First Aid Certification.
Physical and Other Requirements
  • Must have freedom of motion to bend, stoop, twist, and kneel.
  • Strength sufficient to lift 50lbs to 75lbs.
  • Acceptable DOL record (no auto accidents in the past 3 years, no DUIs, or reckless driving in the past 10 years).

This is a highly physical position that requires flexibility to work hours based on business needs, including possible evenings or weekends.
