Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Staff Psychologist to join our team at the Department of Veterans Affairs. As a Staff Psychologist, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality mental health services to our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide specialized psychological services to patients, including intake evaluations, diagnostic assessments, psychotherapy, and patient education.
  • Assess crisis situations, develop crisis plans, and provide crisis interventions and follow-up services.
  • Perform clinically indicated evaluations for outpatient and inpatient populations.
  • Provide a range of therapeutic interventions, including individual therapy, group therapy, and psychoeducation classes.
  • Consult with medical center staff on patient care issues, including patient decision-making capacity.
  • Develop person-centered, culturally sensitive treatment plans to address mental health needs.
  • Conduct evaluations to aid in differential diagnosis of complex cases.
  • Comply with national and local performance measures, including timely health care screening and completion of clinical reminders.
  • Provide supervision to psychology interns and other trainees as appropriate.
Requirements
  • Have a doctoral degree in psychology from a graduate program accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA).
  • Be licensed to practice psychology at the doctoral level in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or the District of Columbia.
  • Have at least one year of experience as a professional psychologist, with at least one year equivalent to the GS-12 grade level.
  • Meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities requirements for the GS-13 grade level.
Working Conditions

This is a full-time position with a work schedule of Monday through Friday, with authorized telework. The position is not a virtual or remote position.
