About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Fleet Maintenance Manager to oversee our operations and ensure top-tier maintenance of our diverse fleet.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the maintenance department to ensure optimal use of equipment, facilities, and personnel.
  • Oversee a fleet of 70 semi-trucks, 500 trailers, 200 material handling equipment (MHE), and a team of 30 union mechanics.
  • Develop and implement processes for continuous improvement, including budget management, forecasting, and capital planning.
  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure equipment is properly maintained and compliant with all safety standards.
  • Manage payroll, inventory, and billing operations efficiently to maintain cost control.
  • Coordinate and facilitate labor relations, including union contract negotiations and grievance handling.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports on staffing, safety, equipment maintenance, and risk management.
  • Foster a positive work environment through effective communication and leadership to build and maintain high-performing teams.
Requirements
  • Extensive experience in managing Class 8 Heavy Equipment and Trailer Refrigeration Fleet Maintenance.
  • Strong background in labor relations, with proven experience in union negotiations and conflict resolution.
  • Knowledgeable in relevant safety regulations (OHSA, EPA, DOT) and best practices to ensure compliance.
  • Demonstrated expertise in strategic planning, budgeting, and resource management.
  • Proficient in utilizing maintenance management software, such as RTA, for effective fleet management.
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills with a focus on team-building and employee development.
  • Ability to analyze data and prepare detailed reports on equipment performance, safety, and operational efficiency.
  • Strong decision-making skills, with the ability to react productively to changes and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
