The responsibilities encompass various facilities and departments as designated by Imaging Services leadership, including temporary shift assignments.

Key Responsibilities:

Demonstrates a thorough understanding of MRI safety protocols and diligently implements them to ensure the safety of patients, visitors, oneself, and fellow staff.

Collaborates with the radiologist to determine appropriate technical parameters and scanning techniques to guarantee high-quality clinical examinations.

Ensures accurate patient and order identification while preparing patients adequately for their examinations.

Conducts MRI scans in accordance with established departmental protocols.

Possesses knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and exhibits appropriate anatomical positioning along with multiplanar image reconstruction.

Under the guidance of the radiologist or supervising clinician, administers contrast and medications as required for MRI procedures.

Maintains proficiency in all clinical and technical aspects of the role.

Adheres to Intermountain policies and procedures, including clinical documentation, billing, and electronic medical record processes.



Minimum Qualifications:
Currently enrolled in a formal Ultrasound, MRI, or Nuclear Medicine training program from an accredited institution.

  • Successful completion of formal training from an accredited Radiologic Technology (RT) program.
If employed in Utah, must possess an active State of Utah License.

  • Recent graduate from an accredited training program in a relevant imaging specialty (must pass boards within one year of graduation).

  • Current State of Utah License if required for that modality.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers.

Physical Requirements:

Ongoing need for the employee to visually perceive and interpret information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, and identify equipment and supplies.

Frequent interactions with patients, care providers, and visitors necessitate effective verbal communication and the ability to hear and comprehend spoken information, alarms, and urgent needs accurately, especially in emergency situations.

Manual dexterity is required to operate intricate and delicate equipment with precision, including frequent computer use for documenting patient care and accessing necessary information.

Expected to lift and utilize a full range of motion to assist patients. This may involve bending to retrieve, lift, and transport supplies and equipment, which can vary in weight.

Must be able to walk and assist in transporting patients and managing supplies and equipment, including pushing or pulling heavy items.

May be required to remain stationary for extended periods.

Expected to operate a vehicle, which involves sitting, seeing, and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.
