The Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Specialist is dedicated to providing empathetic and suitable patient care while conducting MRI scans under the supervision of a physician to aid in the medical assessment or treatment of injuries.

Key Responsibilities:
Ensures accurate patient identification, verifies orders, and prepares patients for examinations.
Conducts MRI scans in accordance with departmental protocols.
Possesses a solid understanding of cross-sectional anatomy and demonstrates proficiency in anatomical positioning.
Critiques and evaluates own imaging results.
Completes imaging studies within acceptable timeframes while maintaining high standards of patient care and examination quality.
In collaboration with the radiologist, selects appropriate scanning techniques and protocols.
Demonstrates knowledge regarding protocols related to contrast administration. As directed by the physician and under the supervision of a radiologist or physician, administers intravenous contrast material to patients.
Practices proper infection control and sterile techniques.
Effectively operates all MRI equipment and associated information systems to ensure the production of quality images. Displays proficiency with electronic imaging.
Handles viewing, transferring, archiving, and manipulating images.
Exhibits a comprehensive understanding of the MRI scanner, troubleshooting as necessary and comprehending shutdown and startup procedures.
Possesses knowledge of the magnet, cryogens, gradient amplifiers, and all relevant computer hardware and software.
Understands the Quench procedure and its appropriate application.
Adheres to MRI safety policies and comprehends the FOUR ZONE concept.
Understands proper MR magnet safety protocols in emergency situations.
Accurately completes all required documentation, including timestamps and image storage.
Follows established protocols for medical necessity, coding, and billing, obtains necessary consents, documents any incidents for quality assurance, and maintains a current quality control program for ACR while reporting any equipment malfunctions or issues.
Minimum Qualifications:ARRT(MR) or ARMRIT certification

- ARRT(R) certification with a minimum of 1 year of full-time MRI experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in MRI or Advanced Radiologic Science
Physical Requirements:
Continuous need for the employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, and identify equipment and supplies.
Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors necessitate verbal communication and the ability to hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, especially during emergencies.
Manual dexterity is required to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing necessary information, and preparing medications.Expected to lift and utilize a full range of motion to transfer patients, as well as bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment, which may include heavy items.
May be required to walk and assist with transporting patients and distributing supplies and equipment, including pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, often navigating crowded and busy environments.
May be expected to maintain a stationary position for extended periods.
For roles requiring driving:
Expected to operate a vehicle, which necessitates sitting, seeing, and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.
