Job Summary

Harvard University is seeking a visionary leader to serve as the Managing Director of Campus Planning, responsible for providing strategic direction and leadership for campus planning initiatives that align with the University's mission and values.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in campus planning, design, and development, with experience in leading complex multidisciplinary teams and collaborating with stakeholders to achieve institutional goals.

The Managing Director will oversee the development and implementation of physical and master planning initiatives, working closely with the Chief of Planning and Design, the Urban District Initiatives team, and other stakeholders to create a cohesive and sustainable campus environment.

The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders and facilitate consensus-building processes.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing strategic direction and leadership for campus planning initiatives
  • Developing and implementing long-term planning strategies to support the University's mission and values
  • Collaborating with University leadership to establish long-term development objectives and prioritize projects
  • Overseeing the development and implementation of physical and master planning initiatives
  • Fostering and building productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Representing the University in public hearings and processes

The Managing Director will work collaboratively with the HUPAD Senior leadership team to ensure the University's goals and mission are met, and will be responsible for identifying and implementing best campus planning and design practices.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of campus planning principles, design excellence, and preservation of campus character, as well as experience in leading complex multidisciplinary teams and collaborating with stakeholders to achieve institutional goals.
