Role Summary

The Lead Financial Accountant will undertake a range of professional accounting responsibilities, focusing on the preparation of financial reports and analyses. This role requires the application of formal accounting principles and practices to provide insights that assist senior management in making informed financial decisions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive system for general accounting.
  • Oversee the balancing and reconciliation of bank accounts and ACH (Automated Clearing House) transactions, including various banking relationships utilized by the credit union.
  • Analyze financial data to detail assets, liabilities, and equity, preparing balance sheets, income statements, and other reports to summarize the current and projected financial status of the credit union.
  • Review subsidiary journals for discrepancies and make necessary adjustments in the general ledger, executing monthly closing entries.
  • Prepare, verify, and manage the entry of journal entries into the general ledger.
  • Establish, modify, document, and coordinate the implementation of accounting and control procedures.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in a similar role, with knowledge of regulatory reporting for financial institutions.
  • A combination of education, training, and experience that equips the candidate with the necessary skills to perform the essential functions of the position.
  • CPA certification is preferred but not mandatory.
