The emergence of self-driving technologies, along with innovative mobility-as-a-service features, opens up numerous possibilities in the energy management sector. You will collaborate with a team of highly skilled engineers from various disciplines, including robotics, control systems, and vehicle engineering.
Role Overview
Your primary responsibility will be to oversee energy management for both the complete vehicle and the robotaxi fleet. This includes:
- Working on the vehicle side with components such as electrical powertrains, high-voltage batteries, thermal systems, low-voltage systems, computing units, and all advanced technologies involved in autonomous driving.
- Collaborating with the strategy and operations team to predict and enhance driving range from the robotaxi fleet perspective.
You will lead the energy team and engage cross-functionally to implement comprehensive energy strategies.
Key Responsibilities
In this position, you will:
- Direct a technically proficient energy team.
- Formulate and communicate strategies for comprehensive vehicle energy management, including subsystem operational points, energy-saving features, thermal integration, and driving cycles.
- Disseminate energy strategy requirements across various subsystems.
- Work closely with advanced hardware, thermal, and powertrain teams to devise energy-efficient solutions and ensure seamless integration.
- Oversee energy simulation and testing initiatives, including validation and model correlation.
- Incorporate energy models into the Zoox simulation environment for end-to-end range simulations.
- Track the energy roadmap as the company progresses towards providing robotaxi services.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A Master's degree in engineering, physics, or a related field.
- A minimum of 15 years of substantial experience in vehicle energy management.
- Expertise in energy simulation and testing.
Compensation
This position offers a competitive compensation package that includes salary, Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. The salary range for this role is between $185,000 and $307,000, with the possibility of a sign-on bonus as part of the overall compensation package. Compensation may vary based on geographic location and experience level.
Zoox also provides a comprehensive benefits package, including paid time off (e.g., sick leave, vacation, bereavement), unpaid time off, Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights, Amazon RSUs, health insurance, long-term care insurance, long-term and short-term disability insurance, and life insurance.
