Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Cook to join our team at Axess Family Services. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for assisting with the daily preparation and delivery of meals to our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with meal preparation and delivery to congregate sites, home-delivered meals, and catered events.
  • Ensure that all meal preparation is completed daily as assigned by the kitchen administrator.
  • Cover all job duties of the kitchen administrator when they are not present.
  • Heat, follow portion control, and serve meals according to sanitation procedures.
  • Follow all sanitation and safety rules for handling food.
  • Portion and pack home-delivered meals as approved by the agency.
  • Prepare and serve meals to Valor Home residents.
  • Attend required scheduled training and meetings.
  • Respond to food concerns discreetly and report same to supervisor.
  • Perform all duties as assigned.
  • Represent Axess Family Services positively to the community.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly work area.
Requirements
  • Reading comprehension and basic math skills.
  • Knowledge of food service procedures for preparation, storing, handling, and distributing food.
  • Maintains a clean and neat appearance.
  • Ability to follow direction and organize tasks.
  • Positive attitude and ability to foster a cooperative and accountable work environment.
  • ServSafe certification and ability to maintain current certification.
  • Valid Ohio driver's license and auto insurance.
  • Ability to meet agency requirements for criminal background check.
Preferred Qualifications
  • High School equivalency.
  • Experience working in food service.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift, bend, twist, carry, and transfer pans of food (maximum 30#).
  • Ability to bend over sinks for intermittent periods of time to wash pans and do general cleanup.
