Job Summary

Joby Aviation is seeking a highly skilled Senior Systems Engineer, Cockpit Avionics to join our team in Northern California. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and integrating avionics systems for our electric air taxi aircraft.

Responsibilities
  • Generate, review, and approve system requirements, including regulatory, safety, and design requirements.
  • Conduct multi-disciplinary design reviews and trade studies to validate system architectures.
  • Develop and maintain system safety analyses, engineering drawings, and test plans.
  • Work with various departments to ensure equipment and low-level designs meet system and aircraft-level requirements.
  • Coordinate with FAA engineers and Joby DERs to ensure compliance with federal airworthiness regulations.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of OEM integration work experience.
  • Skilled at creating and reviewing technical schematics and engineering specifications.
  • Working knowledge of 2X.1309 analyses and processes, including Advisory Circular E and SAE ARP 4761.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and technical writing skills.
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering required; Electrical, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering preferred.
Desired Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of avionics and related equipment, technical standard orders, and minimum performance standards.
  • Previous experience managing complex sets of requirements and preparing design reviews.
  • Private pilot certificate or higher.

Compensation for this position is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $135,100 - $225,200/year.
