Job Title:
Nurse Coordinator
Salary: $70,000 - $90,000 per year in Kansas.
About the Role:The Preoperative Care Coordinator plays a pivotal role in delivering high-quality nursing care in both the preoperative area and the hospital. This is an opportunity to provide direct patient care, ensure smooth patient flow through surgical procedures, and recovery.
This position focuses on providing hands-on care in the preoperative area and on the hospital floor, including conducting patient assessments, administering medications, and monitoring patient progress.
The Nurse Coordinator will supervise nursing staff, facilitate communication between departments, and act as a resource for staff while leading by example. Supporting the organization's mission and values is also crucial in this role.
Key Responsibilities:- Direct Patient Care:
- Provide skilled care in the preoperative area and on the hospital floor, including assessment, medication administration, and patient monitoring.
- Manage patient preparation and ensure all necessary tests are completed before surgery.
- Educate patients and their families about preoperative procedures, expectations, and postoperative care.
- Address patient concerns and offer support throughout their hospital stay.
- Staff Supervision and Training:
- Supervise and mentor nursing staff, enhancing patient care skills and knowledge.
- Assist with new staff orientation, emphasizing patient-centered care and our organizational values.
- Ensure effective staffing levels and efficient workflow to optimize patient outcomes.
- Maintain compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and nursing standards.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Serve as a liaison between departments, ensuring seamless communication and coordination of care.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient care plans and services.
- Maintain open and effective communication with the healthcare team.
- Quality Improvement:
- Monitor and evaluate nursing care effectiveness in the preoperative department and hospital.
- Identify areas for improvement and implement changes to enhance patient care and department efficiency.
- Document patient records accurately and thoroughly.
- Administrative Duties:
- Work with leadership to schedule staff and manage workflows effectively.
- Ensure equipment and supplies are available and functioning properly.
- Handle administrative tasks such as inventory management and budget oversight.
Qualifications:
- ADN required; BSN preferred
- Current RN license in Kansas
- Minimum 3-5 years of nursing experience, with at least 2 years in pre-op or hospital floor settings.
- BLS and ACLS certifications required.
Work Schedule:
This is a full-time position that may require evening or weekend shifts.
