Job Summary

We seek a highly experienced Strategic Communications Leader to join our team in Washington, D.C. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting the vision, strategy, and long-term management of communications, branding, marketing, and external relations for LeaderFit's priorities in the nation's capital.

The Senior Managing Director of Communications and External Affairs will craft and execute strategic communications strategies that increase public visibility of LeaderFit's programmatic work locally in D.C. and across the United States.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and Implement Communication Strategies: Develop and implement a comprehensive communication strategy to raise awareness of LeaderFit's programmatic work, building credibility with multiple stakeholders.
  • Build and Maintain Brand Identity: Foster a cohesive organizational look, feel, and tone across all communications channels and initiatives, ensuring consistency in design standards, quality, and tone.
  • Social Media Management: Develop, implement, and optimize a social media strategy for LeaderFit, including its senior leadership team, reporting on results and trends.
  • Media Relations: Design and initiate media engagement strategies, secure speaking engagements, and cultivate productive relationships with key media contacts to amplify LeaderFit's message.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and collaborate with internal teams to create messaging, grow social media reach, and drive organizational cohesion.

Requirements and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in strategic communications, marketing, or public affairs.
  • 12-15+ years of experience in related professional agency or in-house roles, with a demonstrated track record of raising visibility and building credibility for mission-driven organizations.
  • 5+ years leading a communications or marketing division, setting vision and strategy at an organizational level in an education, social service, or non-profit sector context.
  • Experience creating innovative, multi-strategy marketing and communications campaigns with significant amplification of missions and brands.
  • Proven ability to lead organizational brand narrative development and adoption in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
  • Strong team leadership skills, with a history of creating diverse, inclusive, and engaged teams.
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills, with experience developing and delivering external presentations.

Compensation

This position offers a competitive salary of $140,000 - $160,000 per year, based on experience.
