Position Overview:

As a vital member of our healthcare team, the Rehabilitation Therapy Assistant works under the guidance of a licensed Physical Therapist to implement and support physical therapy programs tailored for participants. This role involves assisting in the planning and adjustment of therapy services, while also providing education to participants, their families, and staff.

The Rehabilitation Therapy Assistant will help coordinate daily rehabilitation schedules and actively engage in a multidisciplinary team approach to care.
The compensation for this position at Center for Elders' Independence is competitive, reflecting both market standards and individual qualifications.

Key Responsibilities:


Collaborate with the Physical Therapist to execute care plans aimed at enhancing participants' independence while ensuring their safety.

Under the direction of the Physical Therapist, deliver treatments designed to alleviate discomfort, restore functionality, and maintain optimal performance through various therapeutic modalities including exercise, soft tissue manipulation, functional training, and other physical interventions. Regularly report on participant progress and any notable changes to the supervising Physical Therapist.

Educate participants and their caregivers on the proper use and maintenance of mobility aids and assistive devices, ensuring their effective and safe utilization.

Identify and address common issues with equipment, making minor adjustments or repairs as necessary to ensure optimal functionality.
Facilitate the delivery of necessary medical equipment to participants' homes or between facilities.
Assist in leading group therapy sessions as directed by the Physical Therapist.
Provide training sessions for other healthcare team members.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in compliance with professional standards and organizational policies.
Ensure the therapy area is organized and stocked with necessary supplies.

Keep therapeutic equipment in excellent working condition.
Uphold confidentiality regarding all company protocols, participant information, and related data.
Handle potentially hazardous materials with appropriate safety measures and adhere to standard health precautions.
Maintain a safe working environment by following established safety policies and procedures.
Exhibit a professional demeanor, demonstrating a commitment to serving all participant groups with respect and responsiveness.
Perform additional duties as assigned in a constructive and supportive manner.

Qualifications:


Minimum requirement of an Associate's degree from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program.

Current licensure as a Physical Therapy Assistant in California is mandatory.
Preferred candidates will have at least one year of experience working with elderly populations in a rehabilitation setting.
Current CPR and First Aid certifications are required.
A valid California driver's license, current vehicle insurance, and reliable transportation are essential.
Ability to travel to various locations as needed is required.

Additional Job Requirements:


This role involves frequent sitting, walking, and computer usage, with occasional requirements for standing, kneeling, and lifting.

May involve lifting items weighing up to 50 lbs and navigating uneven surfaces.
