Brief Overview of Responsibilities:


The School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS) at the University of the District of Columbia (UDC) is actively seeking qualified candidates to fill postdoctoral roles within a federally funded research initiative.

Our newly established Center for Nanotechnology Research and Education (CNRE) invites postdoctoral scholars to engage in various center activities.

CNRE offers a platform to delve into dynamic and impactful research domains such as nanoscale electronics, spintronics, magnetic materials, and solar energy technologies.

The selected candidate will work under the guidance of distinguished faculty advisors with international recognition.

Opportunities for collaboration with the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and other industry partners may also be available, enhancing professional networking for career growth.

This position is situated within Prof. Pawan Tyagi's research group at UDC.


This role primarily serves as a temporary/training position where the incumbent plays a crucial part in planning and executing research utilizing both quantitative and qualitative methodologies to gather, analyze, and report data.

In conjunction with the Principal Investigator, this position will contribute to the design of independent research, data analysis and interpretation, publication of findings, representation of the university at academic conferences, and potential development of innovative theories and methodologies.

The role may also involve assisting the Principal Investigator in supervising and guiding the work of junior research staff. This position operates under the mentorship of seasoned researchers.

Key Responsibilities:
Conducting high-caliber research in the designated field.
Collaborating closely with graduate and undergraduate students on joint initiatives.
Engaging in educational and outreach programs.
Presenting and disseminating research outcomes at conferences and in peer-reviewed journals.
Preparing progress reports for funding agencies.

Seeking external funding to bolster and broaden research efforts, thereby enhancing the university's reputation and initiating projects with governmental, private sector, and community stakeholders.


Essential Qualifications:
Doctoral degree in a relevant discipline.
Eligibility to work legally in the USA.
Highly self-motivated and capable of working independently as well as collaboratively.
Exceptional problem-solving abilities with strong communication skills.

Condition of Employment:
This is a sponsored program appointment, subject to the availability of grant funding.
