Speech Language Pathologist Job Description

Mass General Brigham is seeking a skilled Speech Language Pathologist to join our team in Medford, Massachusetts.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Speech Language Pathologist to provide evaluation and treatment services for patients with speech, language, and swallowing disorders.

Responsibilities:

  • Examine and evaluate patients' communication and swallowing function using clinical evaluations, videofluoroscopic oropharyngeal swallowing evaluations, and fiberoptic endoscopic evaluation of swallow (FEES).
  • Identify speech, language, and/or swallowing disorders and associated dysfunction(s).
  • Develop treatment plans with treatment goals directed towards maximizing function.
  • Consult with other members of the healthcare team to ensure coordination and effectiveness of therapies provided.
  • Assist in implementation of triaging, prioritizing, monitoring admissions, referrals, and discharges to and from the service as assigned.
  • Manage patient caseload assigned.
  • Demonstrate effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Maintain documentation per departmental policy and format that is accurate, complete, and timely.
  • Participate in activities directed towards increasing knowledge and skill and professional development.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, which help to formulate policies, procedures, and program development.
  • Supervise graduate student interns and support personnel as appropriate.
  • Peer-mentor new employees.
  • Train radiology residents in technique and procedures for video swallow studies.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited university program.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech Language and Hearing Association.
  • Possess or be eligible for licensure in Speech-Language Pathology from the state of Massachusetts.
  • Demonstrate expertise in the diagnosis and remediation of oropharyngeal dysphagia and neurogenic communication disorders preferred.
  • Experience with video fluoroscopic oropharyngeal swallowing and FEES evaluations preferred.

Work Environment:

Brigham and Women's Hospital, Dana Farber Inpatient Hospital within Brigham and Women's Hospital; potential for occasional ambulatory care.
