Job Title: Senior Restoration Design Engineer

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Restoration Design Engineer to join our team at Herrera Environmental Consultants, Inc. This is a salaried position with an annual salary range of $141,661 - $185,333.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will have 15+ years of professional experience in concept development and design of stream and river restoration and floodplain management projects. They will work as part of an integrated team with ecologists, landscape architects, engineers, and scientists to develop multi-disciplinary projects in complex ecological settings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement restoration design plans for rivers, streams, and floodplains
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop comprehensive project plans
  • Prepare design plans, construction specifications, and construction cost estimates
  • Manage design tasks through design completion and construction
  • Develop contractual scopes of work and budgets

Requirements:

  • 15+ years of professional experience in restoration design and floodplain management
  • Bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering, or master's degree in civil or environmental engineering if undergraduate degree was not in engineering
  • Current professional engineer (PE) license in California, Washington, and/or Oregon, or ability to readily obtain one via comity application based on licensure in another US state
  • Familiarity with Western state environmental policy and local permitting requirements

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in civil engineering or environmental science with an emphasis on aquatic ecosystems restoration, hydraulics, and/or geomorphology
  • Experience as a project manager of floodplain and restoration design or planning projects
  • Fish passage analysis and design experience with roadway culverts
  • Construction management and inspection experience
