The Internal Audit Manager plays a crucial role in strategizing, executing, and delivering comprehensive internal audits for the organization, reporting directly to the Chief Audit Officer. The ideal candidate will have a robust grasp of internal control mechanisms, financial reporting standards, and adherence to applicable laws and regulations pertinent to the financial services sector. Furthermore, this position entails overseeing the internal audit team's performance to guarantee the effective functioning of the audit department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the formulation and execution of the annual internal audit strategy, pinpointing critical audit areas through risk assessment and collaborating with leadership to establish audit goals.
  • Direct and manage the execution of internal audits, ensuring they are conducted efficiently and within the framework set by the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA).
  • Draft and present audit findings to senior management and the Supervisory Committee, encapsulating insights and actionable recommendations.
  • Monitor the resolution of audit findings and recommendations with management to ensure prompt action.
  • Lead the internal audit team by overseeing recruitment, training, performance evaluation, and adherence to departmental policies.
  • Remain informed about regulatory and industry developments related to internal auditing and compliance.
  • Advise management on matters concerning internal controls, financial reporting, and compliance issues.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Thorough understanding of financial services operations, including lending, investment strategies, deposit management, and regulatory compliance.
  • Awareness of financial service risks such as credit risk, operational risk, and compliance risk.
  • Strong knowledge of internal control assessments and financial reporting principles.
  • Proficient in data analysis, trend identification, and effective communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Expertise in relationship management, team leadership, and cross-departmental collaboration.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, or a related discipline is preferred.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in internal auditing, with at least three years in a leadership role.
  • Certification as a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is preferred.
  • Experience in financial services or banking environments is advantageous.
