Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Licensed Vocational Nurse to join our team at the University of California's Children's Health Center in Westwood. As a key member of our outpatient primary and specialty care team, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional patient care to children of all ages.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patient Care: Record and monitor patient vitals and medical history, conduct venipuncture and blood draws with precision, perform EKGs, administer tests and medications, collect and manage patient specimens accurately, and assist in performing pediatric procedures.
  • Room Maintenance: Maintain clean and well-stocked patient rooms.
  • Communication: Interact with patients, parents, and healthcare providers to elicit salient clinical information, make appropriate assignments, and respond to health concerns with tact and discretion.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain adequate supplies and equipment.
  • Technical Skills: Perform phlebotomy, CPR, injections, and other skills within scope of practice.
Requirements
  • Expertise: 2-3 years of experience as an LVN in an ambulatory care or community setting.
  • Certifications: Current LVN license issued by the State of California Board of Vocational Nursing Examiners with blood withdrawal and IV certification, BLS certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • Knowledge: Expertise in working with pediatric patients, knowledge of all instruments and supplies to perform physical examinations and/or procedures, excellent blood withdrawal and IV skills, ability to take vital signs, administer medications, and obtain drug refills as needed.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to maintain a cooperative working environment with physicians, staff, and all health providers.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of Electronic Health Records: Familiarity with the electronic health record (EPIC).
  • Bilingual: Bilingual in Spanish.
