Position Overview

The Lastinger Center for Learning serves as a pivotal educational innovation hub within the College of Education, dedicated to fostering equitable educational frameworks that enhance teaching and learning from early childhood through K-12. The Center emphasizes critical educational milestones such as kindergarten readiness, third-grade reading proficiency, and algebra competency, which are essential indicators of future academic success. By integrating research, practice, and policy, the Center aims to create sustainable systems that utilize educational technologies and promote the effective application of research-driven methodologies. As part of a prestigious public research institution, the Center operates in a dynamic and entrepreneurial environment, committed to advancing UF's mission to enhance human well-being and quality of life.

Research Responsibilities
  • Support the Principal Investigator in coordinating and overseeing all early learning research initiatives.
  • Lead or assist in crafting comprehensive research manuals and protocols, evaluating their feasibility, and implementing necessary adjustments.
  • Oversee evaluation and data collection efforts in collaboration with project leaders and team members, including scheduling data collection, conducting qualitative interviews, and managing online surveys.
  • Educate collaborators and staff on study protocols while ensuring adherence to compliance standards.
  • Draft, revise, and review Institutional Review Board (IRB) and other regulatory documents, including consent forms and recruitment materials.
  • Maintain current training related to this role and funded projects, ensuring compliance with university and federal regulations.
  • Foster cooperative and collaborative relationships with project leaders and team members across various initiatives.
  • Conduct site visits as required.
  • Engage in internal and external research conferences and meetings to strengthen professional relationships.
  • Assist in participant recruitment and relationship management, coordinating study visits and providing necessary instructions.
  • Contribute to the Research, Evaluation, and Data (RED) Committee to bolster the Center's research and evaluation activities.
  • Support grant writing efforts aimed at developing early childhood products and services.
  • Collaborate with affiliated faculty to enhance research and development initiatives.

Subject-Matter Expertise & Content Development
  • Conduct comprehensive literature reviews to guide the research and development of early learning products.
  • Create and evaluate innovative content for professional learning products in early childhood education, ensuring alignment with developmental standards.
  • Ensure that professional learning materials and instructional strategies are grounded in relevant research.
  • Design engaging learning experiences that incorporate technology and best practices in early childhood education.
  • Identify data collection opportunities to support research related to early learning products and the professionals who utilize them.
  • Contribute to the design, development, and evaluation of the Center's early learning product offerings.

Grant Management
  • Prepare narratives, budgets, and budget justifications for grant proposals.
  • Negotiate and manage study contracts effectively.

Collaboration
  • Work collaboratively with research staff, students, and other team members.
  • Facilitate research/project team meetings as necessary.
  • Build and maintain a wide network of professional relationships with participants, investigators, and collaborators to ensure successful research outcomes.

Additional Responsibilities

Expected Salary:

$100,000-$110,000

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Terminal degree in education with proven research expertise.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in early learning environments.
  • Knowledge of and experience in developing professional development for early childhood educators.
  • Familiarity with data collection and management tools.
  • Experience managing research projects in applied settings.
  • Proficiency in research software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Demonstrated integrity and ability to foster collaborative relationships.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Capacity to manage multiple projects effectively.
