Job Summary

Bryan Health is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Unit Secretary Abstractor. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting physicians and clinic departments by providing clerical and technical support to maintain accurate electronic health data.

Key Responsibilities
  • Obtain and review medical records and imaging on patients to ensure accurate and complete data entry.
  • Enter patient data into the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Update EHR with incoming patient records from transferring care providers, maintaining a high level of data integrity.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, reconciling information with external and internal sources as necessary.
  • Ensure a clean and safe work environment, adhering to HIPAA regulations and maintaining confidentiality.
  • Collaborate with other personnel to maintain good employee and public relations, providing excellent customer service to providers and patients.
  • Inform supervisors or clinic managers of concerns and problems, ensuring prompt resolution.
  • Assist with other EHR assignments as needed, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
  • Participate in quality measures, contributing to the improvement of patient care and outcomes.
  • Abstract records, meeting a minimum abstraction rate of 20 charts per day, and consistently following departmental standards.
  • Abstract records according to departmental standards, focusing on identified needs such as allergies, medications, medical history, surgical history, family history, immunizations, health management, screen diagnostics, and quality information.
Requirements
  • High School Degree or GED required.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) to effectively interact with physicians, patients, families, and clinic staff.
  • 6 months of prior abstracting experience required.
  • Knowledge of technical medical procedures and medical terminology education preferred.
