Job Title: Steward/Dishwasher

We are seeking a diligent and organized individual to fill the role of Steward/Dishwasher at The St. James Hotel.

Job Summary:

The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure the cleanliness and hygiene of all culinary kitchen areas. The ideal candidate will possess a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a commitment to upholding health and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Cleaning and Sanitation: Sweep and mop the entire kitchen, dish areas, restaurant line, and walk-in coolers. Clean china, silverware, and glassware using dish machine or by hand as necessary. Wash and clear counters, shelves, and kitchen equipment.
  • Assisting Cooks: Assist cooks with set-up, breakdown, and maintaining cleanliness. Monitor trash and recycling levels, disposing of waste as needed.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Wash pots and pans, returning them to their designated places after cleaning; scrub kettles and skillets.
  • Team Collaboration: Effectively communicate and collaborate with team members to accomplish daily tasks.
Requirements:
  • Experience: One to three months of related experience or training preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
