Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Poultry Animal Care Specialist to join our team. This role will focus on the overall care and welfare of poultry, production, facility upkeep, and recordkeeping. The ideal candidate will be passionate about working with poultry, have excellent organizational skills, and maintain a clean, safe, and compliant working environment.

Responsibilities

  • Care for animals, including feeding, cleaning, grooming, and breeding responsibilities
  • Follow protocols to ensure the health and welfare of poultry in care, including maintaining health records
  • Perform duties such as artificial insemination, blood collection, and other health sampling as directed
  • Conduct hatch activities, including extensive documentation
  • Keep accurate records of breeding, feeding, egg collection, cleaning, and care of poultry
  • Maintain responsibility for sanitation of poultry buildings, cages, and support areas
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Desire to work with and care for poultry on a daily basis
  • Interest in poultry production
  • Continuous effort toward contributing to a clean and safe working environment
  • Ability and willingness to complete paperwork as needed
  • Must be available to work weekends/holidays on a rotating basis
  • Willingness to work overtime when needed, very limited

This position requires that the Poultry Animal Care Specialist be able to:

  • Able to handle poultry and recognize abnormalities
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks quickly and efficiently
  • Able to work in a confined environment
  • Attention to details, experience with GDP desired
  • Frequently bend, reach, push, pull, squat, and lift, stand/walk most of work shift
  • Avoid contact with avian species outside of work

This position could be offered at different levels for candidates who qualify with a combination of advanced levels of education and/or years of experience. The salary range will adjust along with the level of the role to match the person's relevant experience and/or education level.
