Delivery Assistant

Purpose

As a key member of our delivery team, you will assist drivers in delivering customer orders, load and off-load products, and drive pilot vehicles for oversized loads. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist with loading and securing products onto delivery vehicles using motorized and non-motorized equipment.
  • Deliver customer orders using a company van or pickup truck, obtaining signed proof of delivery.
  • Drive pilot vehicles for oversized loads, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
  • Inspect and maintain delivery vehicles to ensure safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Plan and pace work efficiently to meet productivity goals.
  • Understand and observe all safety procedures and practices to prevent injury.
Minimum Requirements

To succeed in this role, you must have a high school diploma or equivalent, one year of experience in a similar role, or a combination of education and experience. A valid driver's license is required, and NCCCO rigging, signaling, and spotting certification is preferred.

Competencies
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read and understand maps, routes, and road signs.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of basic math and measurement skills.
  • Ability to use motorized and non-motorized material handling equipment.
Work Environment/Physical Activity

This role requires regular riding in a truck, working in various weather conditions, and moderate noise levels. You must be able to lift and carry up to 100 pounds frequently and up to 200 pounds with assistance. Climbing, lifting, pushing, and kneeling may be required.
