This role offers flexible work arrangements, primarily remote, with occasional travel required for training sessions and team meetings. Travel is essential to meet client needs, and LSI provides reimbursement for mileage expenses.
Key Responsibilities
The Support Caseworker serves as the primary contact for foster and adoptive families in their designated area. Families depend on this role for guidance and support regarding their inquiries and needs. Responsibilities include:
- Recruitment of foster and adoptive families
- Responding to inquiries
- Facilitating training sessions
- Managing licensing processes
- Supporting matching efforts
- Assisting with placement
- Providing follow-up after a child leaves the home
The individual in this position will collaborate with a team to ensure the best match for each child in our care. They will also be responsible for completing home study renewals and updates for licensed resource families within specified timelines.
This role requires familiarity with licensing and adoption regulations as outlined by the Iowa Department of Human Services and the Iowa Code. To effectively serve families across Iowa, some travel to homes in western Iowa may be necessary.
Compensation and Benefits
In addition to working alongside a compassionate team, LSI offers a competitive salary and benefits package, which includes a 401(k), paid time off, and comprehensive health, dental, life, and vision insurance.
Qualifications
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria:
- A Bachelor's degree in Social Work
- A Bachelor's degree in a Human Services or Behavioral Sciences related field (such as Education, Psychology, Sociology, Criminal Justice, Child and Family Services, etc.) with at least one year of experience in the child welfare sector as a worker or foster parent
To enhance family retention, the Support Caseworker must possess effective communication skills and demonstrate the energy and commitment to collaborate with foster and adoptive families caring for children.
Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential. Bilingual abilities (especially in Spanish) are advantageous but not mandatory.
This position requires a valid driver's license, auto insurance, a clean driving record, and the ability to pass a thorough background check, including checks of the Dependent Adult and Child Abuse registries, the Sex Offender registry, and criminal history.
