Job Summary:

The Airfield Electrical Inspector is responsible for ensuring the proper installation, operation, and safety of electrical systems in airport facilities, particularly within the airfield. This includes lighting, signage, power distribution, and other related systems. The inspector will work closely with contractors, engineers, and airport authorities to ensure compliance with project specifications, FAA regulations, and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Electrical Systems Inspection:

o Conduct thorough inspections of airfield lighting, signage, electrical cabling, and power distribution systems to ensure compliance with FAA standards and electrical codes.

o Review the installation of emergency backup systems, runway/taxiway lights, approach lighting systems, and other essential airport electrical components.

2. Project Monitoring:

o Oversee the contractor's work on electrical aspects of the project, including trenching, conduit installation, wiring, and equipment installation.

o Conduct routine inspections to ensure electrical systems are being installed properly, efficiently, and in line with approved plans.

3. Testing & Commissioning:

o Witness and document testing and commissioning of electrical systems, such as runway lighting, navigational aids, and airfield power systems.

o Ensure all tests meet the required standards and performance criteria before final acceptance.

4. Documentation & Reporting:

o Maintain detailed records of inspections, test results, and any deviations from design or code standards.

o Prepare and submit daily reports, including progress updates, non-conformance reports (NCRs), and punch lists for corrective actions.

5. Safety Compliance:

o Ensure that all electrical work complies with the latest safety regulations, including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards.

o Monitor and enforce the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe work practices for electrical personnel on the job site.

o Identify and address potential electrical hazards and coordinate corrective measures with contractors and airport personnel.

Qualifications:

· Education: Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred. Relevant certifications or technical training will be considered.

· Experience:

o 5+ years of experience in electrical inspection or construction, preferably in an airfield or airport environment.

o Experience with FAA electrical standards and regulations for airfield projects is highly desirable.

· Certifications:

o NICET Certification in Electrical Systems (Level II or higher) preferred.

o OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Training.

o FAA Certification for airport lighting systems is a plus.

· Skills:

o Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical blueprints, plans, and specifications.

o Strong knowledge of electrical codes (NEC) and FAA regulations related to airfield electrical systems.

o Excellent communication and documentation skills.

o Familiarity with AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and project management software.

Physical Requirements:

· Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.

· Must be able to access confined spaces, trenches, and elevated areas for inspection purposes.

· Must have the ability to stand, walk, and inspect the worksite for extended periods.

· Availability to work nights, weekends, and overtime as needed based on project schedules.
