Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Assistant Group Supervisor plays a vital role in the educational environment by working closely with the Group Supervisor to create, execute, and assess daily learning plans and activities. This position involves coordinating daily operations and supervising aides during the Group Supervisor's absence, ensuring the safety and well-being of children, maintaining the classroom environment, and managing educational materials and equipment. The Assistant Group Supervisor contributes significantly to the overall effectiveness of the School Age Child Care Program.

Educational Background and Experience:

· A high school diploma or equivalent, along with 30 credits in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Human Services, or a related field; or

· A high school diploma or equivalent, with 15 credits in the aforementioned fields and one year of experience working with children; or

· A high school diploma or equivalent, accompanied by two years of experience working with young children.

Key Responsibilities:

· Collaborate with the Group Supervisor to foster a nurturing atmosphere where all children feel safe and valued.

· Comply with Keystone STARS* standards.

· Follow the guidelines set forth in the JCC Early Childhood Program Handbook regarding:

  1. DHS regulations
  2. Family communication
  3. Facility and equipment maintenance
  4. Record keeping
  5. Curriculum development
  6. Health and safety protocols
  7. Team collaboration, including regular attendance at staff meetings

· Participate in regular meetings for the School Age Program and the JCC.

· Undertake additional duties as assigned.

Performance Standards:

· Actively promote the mission, programs, events, and charitable initiatives of the JCC to members and the community.

· Deliver exceptional customer service to JCC members, staff, and visitors by adhering to the JCC Consumer Code of Conduct.

Physical Requirements:

· Ability to engage in active indoor and outdoor play with children.

· Capacity to work in various temperatures and weather conditions.

· Must be able to lift a minimum of 30 pounds.
