Compensation Overview

The annual base salary range for this position reflects a nationwide market range and encompasses a wide spectrum of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary will be influenced by various factors, including the complexity and location of the role, as well as the candidate's skills, education, training, credentials, and experience. Additionally, employees may qualify for performance-based cash incentive awards as part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program.

What Is the Opportunity?

This role entails the investigation, assessment, reserving, negotiation, and resolution of assigned Specialty Liability related Bodily Injury and Property Damage claims, or first-party business property claims of moderate severity or complexity. You will ensure quality claim management throughout the claim lifecycle, including customer interactions, coverage analysis, investigation, evaluation, reserving, negotiation, and resolution, while adhering to internal and external quality standards and state-specific regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct timely coverage analysis and communicate with insured parties based on policy information and case facts. Investigate claims by promptly contacting relevant parties such as policyholders, claimants, law enforcement, witnesses, agents, medical providers, and technical experts to ascertain liability and damages. Identify resources necessary for thorough claim investigations, including Subrogation, Risk Control, Salvage, and fraud investigators. Verify the nature and extent of injuries or property damage by reviewing relevant records and documentation. Maintain an effective diary management system to ensure timely claim handling and evaluate liability and damages exposure at required intervals. Utilize evaluation documentation tools in line with departmental guidelines. Ensure prompt, cost-effective, and appropriate resolution of all claims within your authority. Negotiate claim resolutions with insured parties and claimants or their representatives. Implement alternative resolution methods as necessary. Maintain organized claim files and document all activities in accordance with established procedures. Attend depositions and legal proceedings as required. Provide updates to relevant parties as new information arises, impacting liability analysis and settlement options. Identify cases that require timely referral to higher-level claim professionals or Major Case Units based on severity protocols. Handle personal and confidential information appropriately. Fulfill specific service commitments to designated accounts as outlined in Special Account Communication instructions. Act as a technical resource for the company and represent it in legal proceedings, adhering to professional guidelines and applicable state laws. Deliver exceptional customer service and ensure file quality. Collaborate with business partners to achieve and maintain quality outcomes. Acquire and maintain necessary Insurance License(s) as mandated by state and Travelers requirements, typically within three months of starting the role. Draft denial letters, Reservation of Rights, and other complex correspondence. Assess damages accurately and manage them using appropriate cost evaluation tools. Meet all quality standards and expectations as outlined in the Knowledge Guides. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Ideal Candidate Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree preferred. A minimum of 2 years of business experience preferred. Proven knowledge and capability in claims handling. Advanced knowledge and skills in claims and litigation. Basic understanding of various business line products. Strong negotiation and customer service abilities. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficient in keyboarding and Windows applications, including Excel and Word. Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and work independently. Strong analytical thinking and decision-making skills. Intermediate knowledge in insurance contracts, investigation principles, value determination, and settlement techniques. Ability to effectively convey and receive information. Intermediate interpersonal and customer service skills. Strong time management abilities. Capacity to work independently.

Required Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required. At least one year of experience in liability or property claim handling required.
