POSITION OVERVIEW


ZipRecruiter is looking for a Senior Wireless Communication Systems Engineer to engage in all stages of wireless technology initiatives, encompassing planning, design, execution, prototyping, verification, and validation.

This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring a minimum of three days on-site each week, specifically on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Design system architecture and define requirements.
• Develop algorithms, conduct simulations, and oversee implementation and testing.
• Perform system performance evaluations, benchmarking, and testing.
• Provide support for fixed-point modeling and FPGA design and verification.
• Collaborate with FPGA and software development teams for hardware/software integration and troubleshooting.
• Lead a diverse team of engineers for product and feature development as necessary.
• Establish, monitor, and manage development timelines and tasks.
• Design and engage in laboratory and field testing and troubleshooting.
• Prepare technical documentation and materials.
• Contribute to R&D business development and capture initiatives as required.
• Stay informed about current products and technologies, collaborating with other teams for future enhancements and strategies.
• Perform additional related duties as needed.
• Occasional travel may be required to support customer interactions or testing and demonstration events.

QUALIFICATIONS
• M.S. or Ph.D. in wireless communications or signal processing.
• At least 7 years of experience in wireless systems design and development.
• Involvement in the complete wireless technology development cycle, from design to field testing.
• Extensive knowledge of RF propagation and channel modeling.

• Proficient understanding of digital communication systems, including RF subsystems, synchronization, channel estimation, and channel coding.

• Strong expertise in signal processing algorithms, MIMO, and OFDM.
• Significant experience in modeling and addressing RF impairments to signals, such as AGC, phase noise, and frequency/clock offset.
• Proficient in fixed-point modeling, implementation, and verification.
• Expert in MATLAB programming and simulation.
• Must be a U.S. Person due to client requirements under U.S. government contracts.
• Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES
• Familiarity with wireless mobile ad-hoc networking, medium access, and routing algorithms.
• Knowledge of cognitive radio in congested and contested spectrum and interference mitigation.
• Experience in RF sensing, signal detection, and classification.
• Strong technical writing and presentation skills.

COMPENSATION:
$140,000 - $200,000 annually
