Shift: 1st Shift, Monday to Thursday, 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Compensation: $18.34
Position Overview:
This role involves individual contributions focused on preparing materials and products for the galvanizing process. Responsibilities include hanging angles on spreader bars, staging tubular products, and preparing smaller components for galvanizing. The technician will also inspect production fixtures, chains, and hooks to ensure safety and functionality. Additional tasks include hand-wiring parts for pickling or galvanizing, managing chains and ropes around steel bundles, and moving steel pieces within the facility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Adhere to safety protocols and work instructions while preparing materials for galvanizing.
- Communicate any material-related issues to the Crew Leader or Shift Supervisor.
- Inspect and assess production fixtures and equipment for safety compliance.
- Handle steel pieces, ensuring proper lifting techniques are utilized.
- Perform quality enhancement tasks using air guns during the galvanizing process.
- Utilize air and electric tools for preparing steel.
- Conduct post-galvanizing cleanup, including packaging and banding materials.
- Operate forklifts as necessary.
- Assist with general housekeeping and maintenance of the work area.
Required Qualifications:
- Ability to comprehend and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Proficiency in reading a tape measure accurately.
- Capability to lift, push, pull, and carry weights up to 50 pounds.
- Minimum six months of experience with hand tools and gauges.
- Effective communication skills for reporting issues to supervisors.
- Positive interaction with coworkers.
- Attention to detail and adherence to work instructions.
- Strong safety awareness.
- Willingness to work overtime as needed.
- Integrity and passion for achieving exceptional results.
Preferred Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Experience operating a bridge crane for at least six months.
