Position Overview

As a Civil Project Engineer at Olsson, you will leverage your engineering expertise to support a diverse range of projects, including mixed-use, commercial, and residential developments, as well as industrial and educational site projects. This role requires a registered professional engineer who will oversee critical project objectives, address significant challenges, and implement innovative concepts and policies. You will be responsible for supervising and coordinating the work of engineers and technicians, while also tackling complex assignments that necessitate the development of new methodologies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and prepare planning and design documentation in the relevant engineering discipline.
  • Conduct design calculations, prepare cost estimates, and perform economic analyses to evaluate project alternatives.
  • Assist in defining project scope and schedule, complete initiation paperwork, and participate in budget reviews and progress reporting.
  • Collaborate with various Olsson teams, manage design aspects of projects, guide team members on design tasks, and maintain comprehensive project records.
  • Engage in marketing and business development efforts, including proposal writing.
  • May take on project management responsibilities for smaller projects.
  • Independently manage assignments on complex projects.
  • Coordinate the work of assistant and associate professionals, as well as technical staff, and may supervise interns or technical personnel.

Required Skills:
  • Excellent communication abilities.
  • Proven ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • A minimum of 6 years of relevant Civil Engineering experience.
  • Registered Professional Engineer status.
  • Expertise in site layout, grading, utility design, erosion control, and regulatory compliance.
  • Familiarity with Civil 3D software.
