Compensation: $19 - $22/HR

The role of the School Aide/CNA involves providing essential support to students who require instructional, personal care, and behavioral assistance. This position operates under the guidance of the special education department or designated supervisor.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement IEP objectives across various subjects, including math, reading, and speech, while managing individual behavioral needs either one-on-one or as part of a classroom setting.
  • Assist in teacher-led educational activities, which may include lesson planning, creating worksheets, and facilitating small group interactions.
  • Support students integrated into general education classes.
  • Relay important information to teaching staff.
  • Supervise students during lunch and recess, as well as during community outings.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding all student-related matters, ensuring that parent communications are handled by certified personnel unless directed otherwise.
  • Assist with prescribed programs developed by related service professionals such as Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Speech-Language Pathologists.
  • Help students develop independent living skills through self-care routines, including toileting and personal hygiene.
  • Provide necessary personal care, including health-related tasks and hygiene services.
  • May be required to assist in implementing behavior management strategies as directed by educational professionals.
  • Support teachers with clerical tasks, including preparing materials, maintaining classroom organization, and grading assignments.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current state certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant.
  • Adherence to all relevant professional standards.
  • Completion of Amergis' Competency program, if applicable.
  • Current CPR certification, if applicable.
  • Completion of TB Questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray, if applicable.
  • Current health certificate as per contract or state regulations.
  • Compliance with all federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Successful completion of new hire training relevant to the job site.
  • Understanding of patient confidentiality and HIPAA regulations.
  • Strong communication skills, with proficiency in English required.
  • Basic computer skills are necessary.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.

General Information:

  • Full-time position.
  • Work schedule: Monday to Friday.
  • Assignments may include both one-on-one and classroom support.
  • Transportation may be required for certain assignments.
