As Gannett Fleming expands its client and project portfolio, we are eager to find an experienced Resident Engineer to oversee inspections for medium to large-scale transportation and transit-related projects.

You will play a crucial role in managing construction contracts, representing the Owner's interests on transportation projects. Your responsibilities will include utilizing engineering judgment to assess and resolve technical challenges, leading project teams, and effectively collaborating with the Owner, designers, contractors, and permitting agencies to ensure timely project delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee on-site construction administration and inspection personnel.
  • Ensure contractor compliance with project plans and specifications.
  • Facilitate timely and budget-conscious project execution.
  • Participate in progress, owner, stakeholder, and community meetings.
  • Address and resolve technical issues as they arise.
  • Review and prepare project schedules and budgets.
  • Generate and distribute reports and correspondence, including submittals and RFIs.
  • Evaluate and approve pay quantities and progress payments.
  • Assess and prepare construction cost estimates.
  • Negotiate and draft construction change orders.
  • Conduct constructability reviews and value engineering assessments.
  • Lead claims and risk management evaluations.
  • Develop and monitor Quality Control and Assurance Plans.
  • Maintain professional relationships with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, or Construction Management.
  • Preferred 2+ years of experience as a Resident Engineer, Project Manager, or Construction Manager.
  • Preferred California Professional Engineer (PE) license.
