Operations Technician, Color Operations Specialist

About the Role

This position plays a critical role in enabling Sherwin-Williams' market share growth potential by providing exceptional service on company-owned color equipment and proprietary software in the US and Canada. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering timely and cost-effective service to minimize store downtimes and mistints.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide service on color equipment and train store personnel on proper operation and maintenance.
  • Diagnose machine and color problems over the phone and schedule yearly preventive maintenance visits.
  • Manage just-in-time inventory of parts for the automatic dispenser and maintain accurate records of in-store visits, telephone repairs, and part failures.
  • Document accurate expense records of service trips and troubleshoot electronic circuitry on the automatic dispensers and shakers.
  • Schedule weekend service, vacations, travel, emergency repairs, and preventive maintenance trips for service personnel.
  • Continuously train and understand updates on machines and printed circuit boards.
  • Operate SW computers and phones for service calls and have a working knowledge of computer operating systems MS-DOS/Linux and Windows XP.
  • Suggest changes to increase productivity.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years in mechanical repair.
  • Ability to work with different computer operating systems, including Windows XP.
  • One year customer service experience.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
Working Conditions

This role requires:

  • Ability to sit, stand, hear, and see on a constant basis.
  • Ability to walk, write, and type on a frequent basis.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to climb and descend stairs.
  • Ability to bend, carry, reach, push, and pull on an occasional basis.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
  • May work indoors and outdoors as needed, with exposure to heat up to 120 degrees and cold to 0 degrees.
  • May work in areas where noise level is such that hearing protection is required.
  • May work in areas where toxic, flammable, and hazardous materials are present.
  • May be exposed to varying amounts of dust and dirt.
Technical Requirements

This role requires:

  • Electrical and mechanical skills.
  • Troubleshooting skills.
  • Good working knowledge of how paint and colorant are blended together to develop our color palette.
Travel Requirements

This role requires 50% or more travel.
