Scrap Champion

Job Summary

Novelis is seeking a Scrap Champion to join our team at the Guthrie Recycle Center. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for optimizing scrap consumption and material flow, working closely with cross-functional teams to drive cost improvements and excellence.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with operations, process, recycling, and metal procurement teams to drive supply chain cost improvements and excellence.
• Develop strategies to meet Novelis working capital targets while achieving required service levels for customers.
• Guide melt coordinators in increasing scrap consumption and optimize inventory control.
• Work with Process Engineers to ensure vendor scrap chemistries are up to date and communicate with the NNA recycling team on alternative low-cost inputs for use in blends.
• Identify improvement opportunities in the calculating process and participate in improvement projects.

Requirements

• A high school diploma or equivalent is required; a BS or Technical Degree from an Accredited College is preferred.
• Minimum two years of experience working with molten aluminum.
• Excellent interpersonal relations and verbal and listening skills.
• Ability to prepare and make group presentations and work with colleagues to reach consensus decisions.
• Good understanding of manufacturing systems and computer skills.
• Personal traits should include utilizing human relation skills, empowering, training, understanding, and developing others to attain the objectives.

Preferred Qualifications

• Five years of experience in the molten aluminum industry.

Location

Novelis' Guthrie facility is located in Guthrie, Kentucky, approximately 15 minutes from the Tennessee state line near Clarksville, Tennessee, and Hopkinsville, Kentucky. As Novelis' newest facility, Guthrie will house a heat treatment and pretreatment line along with a recycle center that will serve the North American automotive market and employ 300 residents.
