San Jose, California, United States Antora Energy Full time
Electrical System Architect Job Description

At Antora Energy, we're working to stop climate change by unlocking zero-emissions industrial energy, cheaper than fossil fuels. Our thermal batteries store energy from renewables as heat for days on end, delivering that stored energy as heat and power at the scale and temperatures that large industrial operations demand.

We're seeking a talented and experienced Electrical System Architect to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding and love of high-voltage and high-power electrical system design and architecture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define the electrical system architecture for both Antora's thermal battery module and plant electrical system.
  • Work closely with Antora's module hardware team and plant engineering teams to ensure the highest performing, lowest cost electrical system across Antora's projects.
  • Lead and support electrical R&D initiatives.
  • Support Antora's code compliance efforts.
  • Create detailed system design documents and diagrams.
  • Evaluate and select appropriate technologies and components for system implementation.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field with 10+ years of relevant experience.
  • Proven experience as a system architect or in a similar role with a focus on high-power electrical systems, focusing on performance, efficiency, and scalability of systems up to 34.5kV and 100+MW.
  • Experience with trade studies to determine the optimal configuration of the electrical systems, including voltage levels, power electronic applicability, and protection schemes.
  • Experience with conceptual electrical system design, integration, and testing in a relevant industry (e.g., automotive, aerospace, energy, EV, power generation or storage).
  • Proficiency in electrical design and simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB, Simulink, PSpice, PSCAD).
  • Experience designing, prototyping, and bringing switching based power electronics to market.
  • Experience with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and software-in-the-loop (SIL) testing.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and regulatory requirements related to industrial electrical systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving and failure root-cause analysis experience.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Additional Qualifications Desired:

  • Mentor and lead (either directly or through influence) more junior engineers.
  • Participation in product full cycle development - from conceptual phase to prototype, site deployment, and operations.
