Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Neurointerventional Radiologic Technologist to join our team at the University of Virginia. As a key member of our radiology department, you will be responsible for performing complex diagnostic and therapeutic technical procedures under the direction of a physician.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine to complex diagnostic and therapeutic technical procedures, including extra-cranial and intra-cranial angiography, vertebroplasty, and other spinal injections.
  • Provide technical support for musculoskeletal procedures, including discograms, aspirations, and therapeutic injections.
  • Assist in the technical support of neurointerventional procedures, including tumor embolization, epistaxis, and spinal lesion embolization.
  • Operate required imaging equipment using established guidelines and imaging protocols.
  • Ensure proper safety standards are met and instruct students and residents as needed.
  • Perform quality assurance checks on equipment and assist in maintaining supply inventory.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of Medical Center information systems and coding procedures.
  • Stay up-to-date with new techniques and technology by attending lectures, seminars, and educational readings.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited program in Radiography required; Associate's Degree in Radiography preferred.
  • 1 year relevant experience.
  • Registered Radiologic Technologist through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT R.T.) required; ARRT (VI) certification preferred.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.
Physical Demands

The job requires standing and sitting for prolonged periods, frequent bending/stooping, and reaching (overhead, extensive, and repetitive). Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills are required, as well as attention to detail and the ability to write legibly. The ability to lift/push/pull lbs. may be required, and the job may involve exposure to fumes, cold, heat, radiation, blood/body fluids, and infectious disease.
