Welcome to Omak School District Volunteer Program

We appreciate your interest in contributing to the Omak School District. Your involvement plays a crucial role in enhancing the educational experience for our students.

Community and parental engagement are vital components of student achievement, and we value your time and dedication to our school initiatives.

In compliance with Washington State regulations, the Omak School District is mandated to register all volunteers and conduct an electronic background check through the Washington State Patrol. This process begins with the completion and submission of the attached volunteer application, which incurs no cost to you. To ensure the safety of our students, it is essential to obtain approval from your designated building supervisor before commencing any volunteer activities.

Please allow at least forty-eight (48) hours for the completion of this process after submitting your forms to the appropriate school contact.


Volunteer Roles and Responsibilities

  • Volunteers will assist under the guidance of school staff members.
  • All instructional activities must be supervised by certified personnel.
  • Follow directions provided by district staff.
  • Participate in necessary training prior to assisting with any activities, if required.
  • Direct any student-related issues to the classroom teacher or district staff, regardless of their nature.
  • Adhere to the procedures for signing in and out of the building each day.
  • Wear an identification badge as mandated by the school administration.
  • Comply with all district policies and procedures.

We strive to maintain a safe and respectful educational atmosphere for all students, staff, parents/legal guardians, volunteers, and community members, free from harassment, intimidation, bullying, and cyberbullying.

Volunteers are expected to uphold district policies regarding harassment and bullying. It is essential to review these policies thoroughly before engaging in volunteer activities.


Confidentiality Agreement

Volunteers must not disclose any information regarding student performance, actions, or other sensitive details except to the student’s teacher, school counselor, or principal.

This confidentiality requirement is not only a district policy but also a legal obligation under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act.

Confidentiality applies to all forms of communication, including written records, audio or video recordings, and verbal discussions.


Additional Information

Volunteer Coaches, Field Trip Chaperones, and Athletic/Activity Club Drivers are required to provide their social security number on the application to qualify for reimbursement of fingerprint fees.
