Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled Exterior Design Senior Engineer II to join our team in Raymond, Ohio. As a key member of our Exterior Design department, you will be responsible for developing automotive exterior structures and components that meet or exceed customer expectations.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with cross-functional divisions to design and develop exterior structures and components that balance marketability, styling, packaging, and vehicle performance.
- Utilize CATIA to create 3D models, layouts, and 2D drawings for part design, providing technical expertise and guidance to less experienced designers.
- Correlate and negotiate with internal contacts, including design departments, test departments, and factories, to ensure design targets are met.
- Lead part development activities with suppliers, setting design targets and confirming prospects to achieve requirements.
- Support part and vehicle verification, including developing countermeasures as necessary, and lead C/M discussions to influence direction.
- Estimate and manage part cost, weight, and investment throughout development, including review of supplier quotes.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, with a Mechanical Engineering degree preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in exterior design or a related field.
- Proficiency in CATIA or other 3D CAD software, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
