**Job Overview**

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Medical Laboratory Associate to join our team at Genesis Prime Care.

Estimated Salary: $45,000 - $60,000 per year

Location: Atlanta, TX

About the Role:

The Medical Laboratory Associate will be responsible for collecting blood samples from patients, processing specimens for testing, and performing limited clinical tests.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Obtaining Patient Blood Samples: Obtain patient blood samples from various body sites, observing principles of asepsis and applying knowledge of age-related factors appropriately to patients.
  • Greeting Customers: Greet customers, ascertain the nature of business, and direct or conduct customers to appropriate persons or departments.
  • Processing Specimens: Process various specimens for testing, referral, or storage.
  • Performing Limited Clinical Tests: Perform limited clinical tests as assigned.
  • Picking Up Samples and Delivering Reports: Pick up samples and deliver reports to offsite clients.
  • Accessing Computer Terminals: Access computer terminals for data entry or information retrieval.
  • Collating Reports: Collate reports for files, data processing, and medical records.
  • Answering Telephones: Answer telephones and give information to callers or route to appropriate persons and place outgoing calls.
  • Filing Reports and Other Records: File reports and other records.
  • Making Copies: Make copies of reports or other printed matter using copying or duplication machines.
  • Maintaining Stocks: Maintain stocks of expendable supplies.
  • Sending or Delivering Reports: Send or deliver reports to appropriate locations.
  • Picking Up and Delivering Mail: Pick up and deliver mail.
  • Instructing Patients: Instruct patients or responsible family members in the collection of various body fluids, applying age-related factors appropriately to patients.
  • Making Charges: Make charges for requested tests.
  • Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Ability to Perform Essential Functions: Ability to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation and without posing a direct threat to the health and safety of self or others.
  • Compliance with Policies and Procedures: Ability to comply with all the Center's policies and procedures that are job-related and consistent with business necessity.
  • Effective Communication: Ability to effectively communicate with patients and provide competent care as appropriate to the ages of patients served by this position.
  • Regular Attendance: Regularly attend unit meetings/in-services.
  • Licensure and Certifications: Maintain applicable licensure & certifications.
  • Education and Training: Complete mandatory educational requirements.
  • Competency Assessments: Complete competency/skills assessments as required.
  • Language Proficiency: Ability to read, write, and speak the English language.
  • Documentation Skills: Ability to document alpha and numeric values to conform to lab standards.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to speak extemporaneously on a variety of subjects.
  • Logical Thinking: Use logical thinking and personal judgment to perform a variety of clinical and office tasks that require special skills and knowledge.
  • Decision-Making: Make decisions based on your own judgment and company policy.
  • Independence: Follow instructions without close supervision.
  • Clear Communication: Speak and write clearly and accurately.
  • Planning and Organization: Plan your own work and sometimes the work of others.
  • Technology Skills: Ability to use office equipment including but not limited to computers, fax machines, telephones, and copiers.

Credentials and Experience:

  • Primary Source Verification: Primary source verification required.
  • Education and Experience: High school graduate preferred, or an equivalent level of education and experience.
