Job Summary: CHRISTUS Health is seeking a skilled Clinical Laboratory Technician to join our team on a per diem basis. In this role, you will be responsible for performing various laboratory tests and procedures in a timely and accurate manner.

About the Job:

  • Perform clinical testing in assigned sections such as general laboratory, Blood Bank, and Microbiology with duties including quality control, performance improvement, proficiency testing, and equipment maintenance.
  • Recognize abnormal critical values and notify medical team members.
  • Perform clerical, general, and phlebotomy duties.
  • Provide/dispense blood products as requested.

Responsibilities:

  • Specimen Collection/Handling/Processing– obtain blood specimens via venipuncture and/or fingerstick, accurately identify and label appropriately; follow procedures for processing and testing specimens, including operating various centrifuges; report critical values per Policy and Procedure.
  • Perform laboratory testing in Hematology, Urinalysis, Coagulation, Chemistry, Special Chemistry, ER Stat Lab, and Microbiology sections; operate laboratory automated analyzers according to established procedures.
  • Perform, analyze, and record QC according to Policy & Procedure following CLIA, CAP, AABB, and JCAHO guidelines; perform and record Performance Improvement indicators and reports results.
  • Review policy & procedure manual; assist in training new associates and students in Laboratory practices.
  • Follow established protocols for safety, infection control, security, compliance, and the use of hazardous materials.

Requirements:

  • Associate's degree or higher in clinical laboratory science or medical laboratory technology, or equivalent laboratory training and experience meeting CLIA regulation 42CFR493.S.
  • Board Certification required within 1 year of hire.

Compensation: $40-$50 per hour (estimated annual salary: $80,000 - $100,000)
