We are offering a competitive salary for this role, estimated to be around $70,000-$85,000 per year.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join Samuel Contract Staffing as a Substance Abuse Counselor - Behavioral Health Specialist. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for engaging patients in the initial and ongoing treatment processes of our clinic.

  • Conduct preliminary assessments of eligibility and prepare intake forms
  • Ensure patients receive necessary services from other disciplines within the agency
  • Make referrals to outside resources when necessary
Responsibilities

The successful candidate will have the following responsibilities:

  • Holds regularly scheduled sessions with patients concerning their problems and psycho-social needs
  • Serves as a Case Manager for each patient to ensure coordinated services meet assessed needs
  • Conducts therapy groups
  • Assists patients in identifying problems
  • Works with patients to define problems
  • Maintains accurate and confidential patient records
  • Attends training seminars to improve treatment techniques and theories
  • Identifies and records significant data in case folders
  • Develops treatment plans for presentation to IDT
  • Holds individual conferences with other disciplines when necessary
  • Meets weekly with Clinical Supervisor for clinical supervision and case conferences
  • Refers to other clinic disciplines when appropriate
  • Participates in various committees and works well in team settings
Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following qualifications:

  • Two years of work experience in Human Services providing treatment care
  • CASAC (Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor) required
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver patient treatment, including communication skills and understanding of human interaction
  • Familiarity with Regulatory Agency Regulations regarding patient care
  • Understanding of group dynamics
  • Computer-literate with knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to participate in various committees and work well in team settings
