Role Summary
We are in search of friendly and dedicated individuals to foster an inviting atmosphere for members from all walks of life. The Membership Services Associate plays a crucial role in delivering outstanding customer service and is often the first point of contact for members visiting our facilities. In this capacity, you will cultivate a welcoming environment, promote membership sales, and connect individuals to various YMCA programs, including swim lessons, sports, and childcare.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet and welcome all members and potential members as they enter our facilities.
- Articulate the value of the YMCA as a nonprofit organization and the advantages of membership.
- Utilize our membership management software to process and update memberships and register participants for programs.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of all program offerings, pricing, and operational policies.
- Deliver exceptional service to members, guests, and program participants both in-person and over the phone, contributing to member retention.
- Conduct engaging tours for prospective members, showcasing the community impact of the YMCA and the benefits of membership.
- Participate in all required staff meetings and training sessions.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum age of 16 years.
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
- Basic computer skills or willingness to learn (familiarity with MS Word, MS Excel, and Daxko is a plus).
- Certification in CPR and First Aid required.
- Preferred experience of at least one year in customer service, whether paid or volunteer.
- Strong interpersonal skills: Ability to effectively communicate and manage information with peers, staff, and volunteers.
The physical demands of this position require the ability to:
- Clearly see, hear, and speak.
- Bend, stand, stoop, and walk.
- Move quickly and efficiently throughout the facility.
- Comprehend and communicate written and verbal instructions.
