Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Security Officer to join our team at White Plains Hospital. As a Security Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of our patients, visitors, and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out all duties and assignments of a Security Officer, including the proper and timely completion of all post and other task assignments.
  • Identify and communicate security issues to Security Sergeant, Assistant Director of Security or Division Administrator.
  • Recognize and be responsible for the appropriate and authorized use of all Security Department equipment, including radios, cameras, and Hospital vehicles.
  • Essential Functions and Responsibilities Include:
    • Demonstrate an understanding of the responsibilities of the position, utilizing security policies and procedure via PolicyTech.
    • Verbalize and apply knowledge of current Department and Hospital Policies and Procedures.
    • Attend staff meetings or equivalent to update knowledge related to current Department/Hospital issues.
    • Attend in-services, Net Learning as required/requested to update knowledge.
    • Complete annual Department/Hospital competency requirements.
    • Ability to observe and inspect packages.
    • Ability to investigate thefts and/or property losses and document on a Security Incident Report.
    • Ability to observe and determine illegally parked vehicles.
Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent plus one year of military experience preferred.
  • Must have and maintain New York State licensing requirement.
  • Valid driver's license preferred.
  • BLS certification through the American Heart Association must be completed within 90 days of hire.
  • De-escalation training completed within the probationary period.
  • Restraint training completed within the probationary period.

Physical/Mental Demands/Requirements & Work Environment
  • May be exposed to or work around chemicals necessary to perform required tasks. Any hazardous chemicals the employee may be exposed to are listed in the hospital's SDS (Safety Data Sheet) data base and may be accessed through the hospital's Intranet site (Employee Tools/SDS Access). A copy of the SDS data base can also be found at the hospital switchboard, saved on a disc.
