Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Immigration Paralegal to join our team at Brooklyn Defender Services. This is a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic and collaborative environment, providing exceptional support to our Immigration Practice.

This role requires strong organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality support to our attorneys and clients, including interviewing clients, collecting documents, completing forms, and maintaining accurate records.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Interview clients to gather information necessary for immigration relief screening
  • Collect documents required for immigration applications and court filings, including obtaining them from clients directly and making requests to government agencies/authorities
  • Complete immigration forms with a high level of factual accuracy and attention to detail
  • Maintain accurate digital and paper files and enter information into our digital Case Management System
Requirements:
  • Associates degree, paralegal certificate, 2 years of finished college courses or equivalent experience in the immigration legal system
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and highly cognizant of deadlines
  • Good written and oral communications skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including an ability to work independently and in a team setting
