Job Overview:

POSITION SUMMARY

The Associate Buyer plays a crucial role in the procurement operations of Midway Products Group. This position is responsible for adhering to the established practices and protocols within the corporate procurement department while progressively taking on greater responsibilities. The role involves recommending and monitoring suppliers, negotiating payment terms, pricing, and freight as necessary, and supporting all MPG plant facilities. Additionally, the Associate Buyer will explore new developments in materials and supplies, providing recommendations aimed at cost reduction and quality enhancement.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Review and establish purchase requisitions.
  2. Identify and approve sources for raw materials and supplies.
  3. Solicit quotations and secure competitive bids.
  4. Oversee the negotiation of purchase contracts, including follow-up, scheduling, and delivery expediting.
  5. Manage the receipt and acknowledgment of materials and supplies, ensuring accurate maintenance of purchasing records.
  6. Collaborate with production, research, engineering, and other departments to develop equipment, product specifications, and alternative materials.
  7. Work with various departments to ensure a seamless flow of materials.
  8. Propose departmental policies, procedures, and programs.
  9. Review, recommend, and resolve disputes regarding claims against suppliers for unsatisfactory materials or equipment.
  10. Stay informed about price trends in raw materials and supplies, advising on optimal purchase timing and quantities.
  11. Negotiate payment terms, pricing, and freight as authorized.
  12. Conduct visits to vendor facilities to assess capabilities, quality standards, and delivery timelines.
  13. Perform additional essential functions as assigned.

Qualifications

Skills:

Preferred: Proficient in computer applications at an intermediate level.

Education:

Preferred: Associate's degree or higher in Business or a related field.
