Peraton is seeking a highly skilled Senior Cyber Software Engineer to join our team in Laurel, MD. As a Senior Cyber Software Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting all aspects of agile software design and development for a product running on large-scale compute clusters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop new software capabilities, test, optimize, and perform performance tuning, operation, and sustainment functions.
  • Address requirements and support ongoing modernization activities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure software development meets customer needs.
  • Develop and maintain software documentation, including technical specifications and user guides.
  • Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies to recommend new technologies and processes for complex software projects.

Requirements:

  • Active TS/SCI security clearance with current polygraph required.
  • Twenty (20) years' experience as a SWE in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required.
  • Four (4) years of additional SWE experience on projects with similar software processes may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.
  • Recommend new technologies and processes for complex software projects.
  • A minimum six (6) years demonstrated experience out of the most recent 8 years developing production software.
  • Demonstrated work experience developing RESTful services.
  • Familiarity with cloud development techniques, resources, and tools.

Core Competencies and Skills:

  • Java programming for distributed systems, with experience in networking and multi-threading.
  • Creating and managing Cassandra clusters.
  • Developing applications in the Spring framework.
  • Experience managing Spark analytic engine.
  • Developing Spark Jobs.
  • Developing and managing capabilities running in a Kubernetes cluster.
  • Experience with messaging frameworks – Kafka, Rabbit.
  • Experience with streaming analytics - Apache Flink.
  • Implementing REST APIs.
  • Agile development experience.
  • Well-grounded in Linux fundamentals and knowledge in at least one scripting language (e.g., Python, Ruby, Perl, etc.).
  • Experience with source code management practices and tools.
  • Enabling tools: Git, Maven, Jira.
  • Continuous Integration / Continuous Testing: Bamboo, Jenkins, GitLab Cl/Pipelines.
  • Continuous Monitoring: ELK Stack (ElasticSearch, Logstash and Kibana), Nagios.
