Job Summary

Ramp agents play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient movement of aircraft, passengers, and cargo. As a ramp agent, you will be responsible for loading and unloading baggage, guiding planes to and from their gates, operating baggage carts, de-icing planes, and performing other airplane servicing duties.

Key Responsibilities
  • Loading and Unloading Baggage: Safely lift, load, and unload baggage, mail, and cargo from aircraft to airport facilities.
  • Guiding Aircraft: Maintain on-time connections by guiding aircraft to and from gate positions.
  • Protecting Equipment: Protect baggage and other equipment from damage, loss, and weather conditions.
  • Operating Ground Equipment: Drive and operate ground equipment, such as tugs, cargo carts, service trucks, and belt loaders.
  • Record-Keeping: Assist with record-keeping and documentation to ensure correct routing of baggage.
  • Adhering to Safety Guidelines: Adhere to safety guidelines and maintain safe working conditions for yourself and others.
  • Communication: Communicate with managers and lead agents to manage daily schedules.
Requirements
  • Age: Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Weather Conditions: Able to work in extreme conditions, such as hot and cold weather, as well as small spaces.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent, such as successful completion of a GED.
  • Computer Skills: Familiarity with basic computer programs to assist with record-keeping and baggage routing.
  • Driver's License: Possess a valid driver's license and have a good driving record.
  • Physical Agility: Pass a physical agility test, depending on the airline.
  • Teamwork and Communication: Strong teamwork and collaboration skills to help achieve team goals, and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Schedule Flexibility: Flexible schedule allowing work during nights, weekends, and holidays.
