Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Supervisor to join our team at Waste Connections. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our facilities and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure adherence to our corporate safety program and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Foster collaboration and teamwork among maintenance personnel to achieve our goals.
  • Develop and implement effective training programs for mechanics and preventative maintenance technicians.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies and statutes, and maintain accurate records.
  • Oversee the completion of repair orders and ensure that all technicians are properly trained and equipped.
  • Manage inventory and maintenance of equipment, and develop strategies to optimize maintenance costs.
  • Train and assist mechanics in diagnosing and repairing vehicles and equipment, and provide guidance on best practices.
  • Schedule and assign work to mechanics, PM mechanics, and other maintenance shop personnel, and coordinate transportation of vehicles for repairs.
  • Test vehicles to troubleshoot problems and ensure proper and safe completion of repairs.
  • Make emergency road calls to repair trucks and ensure minimal downtime.
  • Communicate regularly with the Division Maintenance Manager and provide updates on maintenance activities.
  • Assist in developing monthly financial projections and annual budgets, and ensure that departmental costs are within budget.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in mechanic maintenance and repair, with a focus on truck, light, or heavy equipment maintenance.
  • Ability to train and motivate staff, and develop effective training programs.
  • Knowledge of air brake, hydraulic, and electrical systems, and proficiency in vehicle and equipment diagnosis and repair.
  • Trade or technical school certificate preferred, and high school or equivalent required.
  • Holds or ability to certify for CDL within 90 days of start date.
