Job Summary:
The City Of Tupelo is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Building Conversion and Crew Operations Manager to join our Operations Department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing and supervising the operational set ups, conversions, and events that take place in our arena and conference center.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead by Example: Supervise and work directly with the operations crew to ensure all scheduled duties and work assignments are completed in a timely and efficient manner.
- Attend Weekly Meetings: Participate in weekly Operations meetings to discuss upcoming events and prioritize weekly activities and work assignments.
- Collaborate with Departments: Work closely with Arena and Conference Center departments to ensure the smooth completion of all required Set Ups/Strikes and Conversions.
- Communicate Effectively: Promote an open-minded and proactive approach to complex scheduling and staffing challenges in a communicative and positive manner.
- Lead a Positive Work Environment: Promote a professional and positive work environment that encourages open communication between subordinates and management.
- Critical Thinking: Lead in critical and creative thinking when finding logical solutions to complex problems in a fast-paced work environment.
- Pre-Event Inspections: Perform pre-event inspections of the facility to ensure all event set up requirements are complete and all safety standards are adhered to.
- Vendor Communication: Communicate with outside vendors to secure requested equipment and supplies for all events.
- Event Orders: Inspect Riders, Operations Documents, and Event Orders to assure all set ups are in line with client specifications.
- Operations Liaison: Act as Operations liaison in the absence of the director and assistant director and is the nighttime Manager on Duty for Arena ticketed shows.
- Audio/Video Requirements: Oversee and inspect all audio/video requirements for events.
- Storage and Warehouse Management: Assure all storage and warehouse spaces are organized and clean to minimize downtime in locating and transporting of equipment and supplies.
- Maintenance and Equipment: Work closely with Maintenance Technician in maintaining all operations equipment and vehicles.
- Ice Making Operations: Lead Ice Making Operations for Ice Shows and Public Skates programs.
- Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervise the work of City employed & third-party employed operations personnel. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding, and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or GED required. Minimum three (3) years' experience in a hospitality or entertainment venue preferred. Minimum three (3) years' experience in a supervisory position. Knowledge of stagecraft and building conversions.
Office Skills:
Must operate two-way communication devices as necessary.
Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, and government regulations. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the community. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or governmental officials. Must speak and write the English language fluently.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of accounting, algebra, and geometry.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Engage in decisions related to crowd management in a prompt and decisive manner during crisis situations. Plans, coordinates, and directs varied and complex administrative operations.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Must have a current license to operate a motor vehicle in the United States and proof of valid insurance if operating a vehicle on behalf of the company.
