Role Summary and Qualifications
We are in search of a skilled and empathetic RN to provide outstanding care to our oncology patients. As an Oncology Care Nurse, you will demonstrate a thorough understanding of chemotherapy, immunotherapy, radiation therapy, and surgical procedures. The Oncology Care Unit consists of 25 beds and operates as a remote telemetry unit. Your expertise will also encompass the management of various infusion lines, including port-a-caths and PICC lines.
- Proficiency in time management and effective communication is essential.
- You will deliver pre-operative and post-operative care for diverse surgical oncology cases.
- Monitoring and documenting patient conditions will be a critical part of your responsibilities.
- Collaboration with healthcare team members to assess and modify care plans based on patient responses is vital.
- You will work alongside oncology-certified nurses and cancer specialists to tailor care plans for individual patient needs.
- Our nursing team also provides compassionate care for patients in hospice and end-of-life situations, supporting families during these transitions.
- Education for patients, families, and caregivers will be provided throughout the care continuum.
Qualifications Required:
- Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing (BSN preferred).
- Current Registered Nurse license in Virginia or a compact license.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
- Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy certification preferred (mandatory after one year of employment).
- Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) certification preferred.
